Manchester United's win against Bournemouth not enough for UCL spot

– The Red Devils defeated Bournemouth 3 – 1 at Old Trafford

– Rooney, Rashford and Ashley Young all got a goal each

– The result however was not enough take Van Gaal’s men to the Champions League
Manchester United thrashed Bournemouth 3 – 1 in their final league game of the 2015/2016 season; a result which was not enough to put them in the top four spot for a chance to play at next season’s UEFA Champions League.

The Red Devils opened the score-sheet following a superb string of passes before Wayne Rooney slotted home from close range in the 43rd minute as both teams went into the break with United leading 1 – 0.

In-form 18-year-old striker Marcus Rashford made it two for the home side in the 75th minute before Ashley Young completed the rout, three minutes from time.

The unrelenting visitors later got a consolation after their effort was rewarded through a Chris Smalling own goal. It ended Manchester United 3 – 1 AFC Bournemouth.

As a result, city rivals Manchester City have secured the fourth position and Louis van Gaal’s side will only get a chance to feature in Europe next season in the Europa League.

This will definitely have a damaging impact on the incoming revenue for Manchester United.

United will lose over £30million in broadcast revenue for failing to qualify for the Champions League and there will be a 30 % cut in the Adidas deal.
